This easy to use device plugs into a standard household wall outlet and allows you to continuously monitor your home for radon gas. You can easily move the detector to different floors and areas, or even test another home. The average cost is between $120.00 to $140.00. This testing can not be used for real estate transactions.
2. This test is a do-it-yourself lab testing and is easy! Simply place the two radon detectors in the lowest level of your home or office for a period of 96 hours to allow time for the detectors to absorb enough radon to be analyzed according to EPA standards. Seal the detectors with the enclosed caps, completely fill out the data card, and return the detectors to Pro–Lab in the pre–paid postage envelope along with any required lab fee. Your professional laboratory test results will be mailed to you within one week of receipt, indicating the exact radon level in your tested area. Kits are available to the general public at over 40,000 leading home centers, hardware stores, pharmacy chains, supermarkets, and a wide category of specialty outlets. Stores include The Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards, Ace Hardware, True Value, Do It Best, Kroger, Fred Meyer, Giant Eagle, and CVS. This testing can not be used for real estate transactions. 3. If you are purchasing a home or commercial property Radon Testing must be performed by a licensed professional. It's very important that radon testing as part of a real estate transaction is done correctly since someone will end up having to pay to fix any radon gas problem. Although almost all homes can be fixed, the cost to do so can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars. The testing performed by a professional can be charcoal type sampling devices or by using radon telemonitors that are electronic and send the test staright to the lab.
